Researching and applying for many Rebates, grants and tax incentives that depend on the area in which you are performing your green rehab.
This is an extra strategy that you can implement during your next Green Rehab project to increase your overall profits. By researching and applying for many different rebates, etc. you should be able to decrease your rehab costs by at least 10-30%.
The real key is to start looking for grants, rebates, tax credits/incentives immediately before you start your next green rehab project. Many of these cash rebates, etc. have strict guidelines and a “right” order in which you will receive them. Just be sure to understand the whole process and submit things in a timely order. You don’t want to miss out on thousands of dollars of savings because you didn’t read the directions on the application form.
By decreasing your actual costs of doing the rehab project, you are already increasing your profits on this piece of green real estate. We have seen upwards of a 35% savings on a rehab project which really aided with increasing our profits when we sold the home to an investor and realized the extra dollars that were left in the deal due to the rebates, etc. This was on a single family home.
